Shaco Tips and Tricks

Shaco Tips and Tricks

  • Shaco's Jack In The Box allows him to get an early kill or burn the enemy midlaner's Flash with ease because you can come close to them with Deceive, cast Jack In The Box behind them and auto attack & slow with Two-Shiv Poison. At this point they'll either activate the box and get feared or Flash over it.
  • Casting Hallucinate at the proper moment allows Shaco to negate most enemy abilities.
  • Shaco's Backstab also works versus jungle camps and notably Baron, Herald & Dragon. Due to this, Shaco can melt Dragons & Heralds early on by using the Hallucinate double to tank them and then just basic attack from behind.
  • Deceive can be used to jump through all walls in the game and is an excellent tool for both ganking & running away.
  • Two-Shiv Poison deals a lot more damage to enemies which are below 30% health, making it an excellent finisher for enemies that are trying to run away.

Shaco Jungle Pathing Guide

Jungle Pathing represents the choices jungle players make in regards to when and where to gank, invade or just path towards. It includes how camps and buffs are cleared between ganks, anticipating counterganks, and spotting opportunities for invading. Effective pathing requires deep understanding of your champion's abilities, their interactions, and how both team compositions play into those choices.

Full clear with a Raptor into Krugs Box strategy

BLUE Side Shaco full jungle clear starting at Raptors with specific Box timings

The recommended jungle path for Shaco is a full clear starting Raptors. By utilizing his boxes Shaco has one of the fastest initial clears in the game. At 0:51, place Jack In The Box in the center of the Raptor camp, then use a second Jack In The Box at 1:05 also in the center of the Raptor camp. Now go ahead an walk to the Krugs wall and place a Jack In The Box on the Krugs camp at 1:19. This will make the box ready to damage the Krugs camp as soon as they spawn (they have a delayed spawn time). As the Raptors spawn do a couple of basic attacks at the back of the big Raptor, place another box and start walking to the Krugs camp. Unlock Deceive and jump over to the Krugs camp. After clearing it, go for the Red Buff next as this will grant you level three, unlocking Two-Shiv Poison. Next up you can either do a quick gank on Mid lane or just proceed to clear your Wolves, Gromp and Blue Buff. Lastly, go for the Rift Scuttler before invading the enemy jungler or ganking a nearby lane. If you want to visually see how this strategy is done, check out this Jungle Shaco replay from a previous patch.

Shaco is actually quite versatile and can do many pre-box strategies. There's Raptor Krugs, Raptor Red, and a few other variations.

Shaco's early gank threat is strong after level three with Two-Shiv Poison slow and Deceive mobility combined with the crowd control of Jack In The Box. Focus on overextended mid laners for an easy kill.
